Building Trust with Gen Z and Your Target Market

Gen-Z has decided that they will only support brands that align with their values and are trustworthy. They will refuse to buy products from brands that they do not fully trust. You need to be transparent in 2023 if you want them to engage with your brand. Here are some tips to get Gen-Z and others on your side:

  1. Maintain Consistent Branding: Gen-Z, along with many other demographics, will only start to trust a brand if they are consistent. This means you need to be the same person/company on all platforms. Do not make contradicting statements on separate platforms and make sure that your visual branding is consistent among all of them.

  2. Be Authentic & Deliver on Promises: If you make a promise, you need to follow through on it. Nobody likes a broken promise, especially Gen-Z. You need to be true to your brand and its values all of the time.

  3. Make Them Feel Heard: Gen-Z wants to feel heard and seen. You need to acknowledge their existence in order to get them to support and trust your brand. Interact with Gen-Z on social media and through other means. The more you interact with someone or a group they fall into, the more likely they will be to buy your product or service.

Tip: Showcasing reviews is a great way to show that your brand is successful, that people like it, and that you can be trusted. Make sure the reviews you show are from real people, and not fake. Gen-Z will immediately dismiss you if you have fake reviews or really bad ones.

  4. Use Micro-Influencers: We talked previously about the power of micro-influencers. They are a great way to market to Gen-Z. If a popular micro-influencer gives a genuine review about your product or service, Gen-Z is likely to take their opinion into account to decide if they should buy it. Find a micro-influencer and reach out, emphasizing a genuine review, and you can build trust with Gen-Z.

You do not want to miss out on Gen-Z’s estimated spending power of $323 billion. If they do not trust your brand, you will get $0 from that amount. The best way to build Gen-Z’s trust is through consistency, transparency, authenticity, and connection.
